{DIY} Fall Décor Vases and a Paint Chip Banner

I am slowly getting my house up and running with Fall décor.  I’m not much of a Halloween decorator so what goes up will stay until the Christmas bins get pulled out.

I wanted to share a couple of simple projects.  Because I’m a craft hoarder I didn’t have to go to the store for any additional items.

FALL Decor Vases

I picked up these 3 amber colored vases a while back from the Dollar Store for yep, $1.00 each.  Apologies for the picture.  The weather outside wasn’t helping much.

I grabbed some ribbon out of my stash, some old jewelry and my glue gun.

The vases are sitting on some faux leaves.  They came in a pack of 4, 2 packs for $1.99 at Rite Aid.  I’m using some in another vignette also.  I’ll shaer in another post next week about that.

I also picked up some red vases for the Christmas season.

Paint Chip Banner

You saw the Happy Fall banner when I shared my mantle the other day.  I made it from my paint chip stash.  It was pretty easy.  Just use a hole punch to put holes in the top left and right corner of each chip.  I added some scrapbook sticky letters I had on hand, then fed some twine through the holes of the chip.  How easy!

No Cost Fall Mantel

Hello.  Are you decorating your home with Fall Décor.  I love the colors of rust, shades of orange and gold blended with blues and greens.    Today I’m sharing the mantel in our family room and I’m happy to say I did not spend a dime.  I had everything in either my storage bins or craft room.

Do you recognize the candle sticks?  They were blue last week and I gave them a shot of gold spray paint.  I also wrapped a strip of orange and white polka scrapbook paper around each candle

I made my Happy Fall banner from paint chips.  I have a huge stash.  I’ll share how I did it in another post.

I found the black coal bucket at the Goodwill last summer for $1.99.  It’s just been sitting in the garage.  A quick coat of Rustoleum Gloss black and it was ready to hold some faux pumpkins.

Primrose Baskets

I’ve always enjoyed giving little presents to my friends and family.  I’m one of those who waits to open their presents at Christmas because I get so excited to watch others open their gifts.  Such was the case this  past weekend.  I couldn’t wait for Valentines Day to give my two best neighbor gals a little bit of love.

Primose Baskets

I found these cute baskets at my local Bartels store, lined them with pink and white tissue,  then added 4 primrose pots to each.  A heart shaped chocolate box, and a homemade card tied with bakers twine finished them off.

Just looking at the bright whites and perky pink flowers makes me a little bit excited for spring.  What about you?

Valentines Day Decor

I don’t go crazy decorating for Valentines Day, but I do like to add a bit of hearts and pink as we get closer to the love day celebration.  Last year I added touches to my family room.  This year I chose to love up the entry.

Let’s take a closer look…

I’ve had the adorable Valentines plate for a couple of years, I think it was a buy from Marshalls.  I thought I would display it and if I need it to serve some sweets I can easily grab it.  I picked up the white ceramic birds on a end-of- the- summer clearance last August at Ace.

Plate and Birds

Speaking of birds, The white bowl was a delicious find at the Goodwill for a whopping price of $3.00.  I added some fake moss, another bird, a birds nest from the Target dollar spot (was a pack of 4) and some hearts.  The hearts came in a pack from the Dollar store.  I just cut them off their sticks. I found the pink flowery stems in the bottom of my craft closet stuffed into a plastic bag.

Next to the bowl is a glossy white candlestick, another cheap find,  $3.00  from Marshalls .  I hunted the store for a mate but never found one.

The branches are from my gulley, previously spray painted for a July 4 centerpiece.  I used the same hearts as last year, but created a different tree in this white pitcher from Ross, rather than the vase.  I think the pitcher was around $7.00.

Last, a wreath from last year, just hung in a different place.

Valentine Collage

I’ve a bag full of Valentine décor left, but I don’t think I’ll use this year.  If you want to check out last years decorations just head to my Project Gallery.

Do you decorate for Valentines Day?  Pink, red, white, what colors do you pull on to use?  Have a fantastic Tuesday.

A Merry Christmas + Around the House

I’ve been baking cookies today, the Prime Rib is ready for tomorrow and only a few presents left to wrap.  Christmas Eve is only hours away.  Sometimes I wish I still had a small child.  Their excitement is so contagious.  I still remember 15 years ago when we moved into our house just days before Christmas.  Our son was just 6 and truly afraid if we didn’t have the house totally decorated and lights up outside that Santa wouldn’t find him.  We’d been to an Aunt’s house for Christmas Eve and and just as we got home a small plane flew overhead.  You could see a red light and we convinced our son it was Rudolph’s nose.  He flew to his bed and fell fast asleep so Santa would stop.  It’s one of many memories I cherish.

May you all have a wonderful holiday with family and friends resting, laughing, reminiscing, just what ever you want to do that fulfills you.  I’ve not take the time yet to show you our home decorated for the holidays so if you have a minute please join me.  These are just a few that I’ve taken.  You can find many of the details in previous posts or in my Project Gallery.

Progressive Dinner + Tablescapes

Last weekend hubby and I had a great time.  Four houses, four meals and drinks and wonderful neighborhood friends.  I wish I would of taken pictures but I was having too much fun.

We started at Sharon’s with appetizers and a punch that really kicked the atmosphere into gear!  Next was our house and we had the salads.  We had Caprese salad and Caesar salad.  We also had a Bloody Mary bar complete with multiple flavors of mix and the extras’;  pickled onions, beans, asparagus, celery, and cubed cheese.  It was a hit! and really fun to do.  I did set a nice table and I did take a few pictures.

Centerpiece 1

We have a small dining table but we happily seated 7, a little bit of a squeeze but the Bloody Marys’ helped!  I did a black, white, gold and silver theme.  I used both silver and gold chargers, alternating them around the table and also alternated the silver-gray or gold paper napkins, making them opposite of the charger color.  Down the center of the table is a cream runner dressed up in gold glam.

I found the dishes at Home Goods on clearance.  Salad plates $2.00 each, dinner plates $3.00 each.  What a good deal, right?  And I love black and white.

Next stop was K & B’s for a fabulous lasagna, crusty French bread and red wine.  And then on to T & R’s for a wonderful cake, caviar and brandy.

What a wonderful night with friends!

It’s getting oh so close to Christmas.  Are you ready?

Livingroom Christmas Tree

I haven’t posted anything for a week.  Work (the day job) gets crazy busy this time of year because we shut down from Dec 22 – Jan 2.  It’s an awesome break to spend time with family.  Last time I wrote I promised pics of our livingroom tree so here ya go even though I’m only 5 days late, at least!  We did the tree in white lights and gold ornaments and added some eggplant color for contrast.
