Updated Dining Room

Not too long ago I shared our new paint job and updates to our Living room.  Today I wanted to share the updated dining room.  The two areas are connected so we used the same paint for both rooms on the walls and ceilings, Behr Dream Catcher.

Color Strip

We have an inset in the dining room ceiling and I painted that with the bottom color, Prelude, 740 E-3.

See the curtains and cornice board.  I was so over that I ripped it right down.  Here’s another…

Dining room After

I already shared that I took the doors off the hutch.  That was an improvement in itself.  As I mentioned in a previous post the paint color changes throughout the day and evening depending on the light.  It changes to almost white, to light blue, to a lilac to a darker muted blue.  I’m really happy with our choice.

It might not look like a big change in the pictures but it really is.  Someday I’ll get a new dining room set, but for now we’ll use what we have.

Same Hutch, New Look

What do you do when you want a new look, but are not willing to spend bunches of money?  You can paint, but if the object is wood then you might, like me, have a hubby that says No, please don’t.

I wanted a new look for my dining room hutch.  It’s old, a bit out of style, but it’s been with me forever. So I just took the doors off and I’m okay with it awhile longer.  Removing the lead glass doors certainly gives it a more open feel.  But, I’m thinking I like the linens.  With them I feel a little more warmth.  Am I right?

Dining Room Holiday Centerpiece

Happy Monday.  Hope you had a great weekend.  I was able to get some shopping done and also complete a couple of crafts which i will share this week.

Today I wanted to share my dining room centerpiece which cost me less than $10.00.  Remember, because of the broken wrist and my limited ability, I’ve decided to go minimal.  Since I already have lots of blue and cream in my living room and it connects to the dining room I decided to add some silver, gold, and aqua…oh yes, and a touch of green.

I bought small dollies from the $1.00 store and overlaid them to create a table runner.  I already had the larger vase, crystal plate, candle and ornaments  but picked up the rest for a buck each from the dollar store; aqua stones, decorative boxes, and smaller vase.
