Shopping – Home Goods = LOVE

Hi All!  Miss me yesterday?  My internet/phone/TV provider experienced a statewide power outage on Sunday.  It even took the back-up battery out.  Thankfully my neighbor has the same provider so when I got home yesterday she was able to tell me how to fix it.  Thanks to Audrey for calling and staying on hold for 1.5 hours.

As you already know, I live in the Seattle area and my son goes to school in Orlando.  Some of the restaurants and stores that I’m familiar with in Florida are finally making it here.  First came Five Guys burgers and Jimmie Jon with sandwiches.  A couple of months ago Home Goods came to the Northwest and located just 20 minutes away from me.  I can’t tell you how excite I was, although I have to admit I stayed away for the first month.  I knew it would be a crazy zoo and it was, according to some of my friends.  I first wrote about Home Goods here after a trip to Orlando.

Hubby and I stopped by a few weeks ago.  Do you ever see that one little item that just has to be yours?  That happened to me with this pillow.

I love birds and flowers and the colors green, pink and blue.  It’s the perfect pillow and I also love the shape, a different shape than the other pillows Here’s a closer look.

This is what I view from far away.  Is it just so silly to be in love with a pillow?

Now I’ve got my eye on this and it’s another love…

Have you shopped at Home Goods?  What have you brought home?  What did you want to buy and when you went back it was gone?

Fall Walk – Being Creative with Tree Branches

Hi there!  Yes, I said tree branches.  They’ve been on my mind for awhile.  My hubby thinks I’m a little out there, if ya know what I mean.  I wanted to use them to create something ever since I was in Florida last August and went to my very first HomeGoods store.  That’s when I saw and fell in love with this.

Beautiful, isn’t it?  Then, Kate from Centsational Girl shared an Autumn Accent post recently.  Kate was out and about and “spotted that cool moss covered nine foot tall branch at a local shop specializing in second hand midcentury decor”.  See for yourself – I fell in love with this branch.  I just thought it looked so cool.

So…..this morning when hubby, puppy and I went on our walk down along the park I picked up some branches and then when we got back home I picked up more in the greenbelt next to our house.  I know they aren’t huge and there’s multiple limbs, but I just thought I’d play around with them and see what would happen.

Fall Wreaths and Branches 001

I sprayed them randomly with Rust Oleum satin white and metal gold, not wanting to entirely cover the naturalness of the branches.  Then I put them in a tall green glass vase I had and put the vase behind the living room loveseat.  I will say it’s not the perfect container, but I really like the look of the branches. In fact, after I was done I found more branches, bigger and better which are now sitting on the side of my house.  I’m thinking this project could morph to something else.  For today though, I’m pleased as punch about the look.  What cha think?

It’s Been A Journey…Plus HomeGoods – WOW!!!

Hi Everyone!  This time I really am back, I promise!  The last 6 weeks have been a bit crazy.  Don’t worry, nothing horrible, just extra extra busy.  In fact,  my August posts have been very minimal so thanks for sticking with me.  At one point I shared “I was back in the saddle”, meaning I was back to my blogging.  However, that just didn’t quite pan out, thus the reason for a bit longer break.

Some  know I live in the Northwest and by day I work in Human Resources for a BIG airplane company.  I changed jobs within the company in mid-July.  Between learning new stuff and increasing my commute time, I spent time with family and got my son ready to return to college.  Add that all up and it equals little time to put forth a good effort into blogging.

Hubby and I also just returned from a two week vacation.  Wait, did I say vacation?  We took young son back to college to Orlando.  He’s a junior this year.  Truly, it was a nice get away and yes, I always get sentimental when I say goodbye.  Skype fills the void somewhat, but once a mom, always a mom, and the house is so quiet.

Over the past months I’ve been reading about HomeGoods, a store that seems to come up in posts all over the blogsphere.  So……when we were in Florida I dragged my hubby and young son to the nearest store.  And, oh my gosh!!!!  If I was driving rather  then flying had a U-Haul truck I could of spent bunches of money! Loved it all….I had little battery left on my phone but managed to grab a few pictures.

Check out this lampshade.  Definitely there’s a journalism theme going on here.

How about these plates?  I’d love to set a morning brunch table with them!

I love this char and table…..so “autumny” – is that a word?

This vase is fabulous – would love this with some tall greenery and white branches.

These last two pics are my favorite.  Right in the middle of the HomeGoods store stood this handmade metal tree with tons of blue lights.  I have blue and cream couches in my living room and this tree would fit perfectly.  This definitely is something I will need to think about – is there a fairly easy way to make this?

I did a search and there is a HomeGoods store in Portland, Oregon, only 3-4 hours away.  Do I see a road trip coming?  The bonus is Oregon does not have state taxes!

It’s so good to be back!!!!
