Everyday Life 10-14-13

Happy Monday…..night!  I feel like I’ve been away forever.  The day job, the one that helps pay the bills, has been keeping me hopping.  I’ve completed a few projects here and there, but the pictures are still in the camera and still need to be processed.  I’m sharing the  everyday normal today.

FALL WALK

The weather was dry this weekend so the hubby, the puppy and I were able to get for a few walks.  A week ago the leaves were just starting to change. Now, they look like a painters tray of oils.  I took these pics last year but I could of taken them now.

HOME GOODS

A little retail therapy doesn’t hurt anyone, right?   I just say Honey, lets go for an appetizer and a drink.  Then I say, Oh look, we’re right across from Home Goods!   I scored as they had  a great selection of pillows and I wanted needed  some to celebrate Fall .    You’ll have to check back later this week if your curious where I put them and what they look like now.

I did grab the Be Thankful pillow and toss it in the blanket basket in the family room.  My hubby still doesn’t get the “just for show” concept, but I keep explaining.

POUTY PUPPY…

My hubby and I struggle every month trying to give Divot his flea pill.  Since were surrounded by a gulley and a golf course, there’s lot’s of insects and creepy crawlers.  And Divot loves to run an play.  He snubs his nose at us and refuses to eat when we try to give him his pill.  I just have to watch for him to yawn, then I throw it in his mouth.  He turned into a pouty puppy after he swallowed this months dose.

I was at the Dollar store the other day and look what I found…

Then I went to ACE to buy same spry primer so when I felt the mood to spray paint it would already be here.  They had a ton of colors and patterns so I need to load up the next time I’m there.

That’s it for me except for the normal clean the house, do the laundry, rake leaves from the yard, blah, blah, blah.  Where does the time go?  At the end of each day do you know what you did exactly or does it just fly by?

Enjoy your evening.  The Voice is on tonight so that’s where I’ll be.

Blending Pillow Colors {Living Room}

Did everyone love having three days off?  I sure did!  We got the normal house and yard chores done and then had some time to play as well.  Our neighbors hosted a king salmon barbeque, a nice 22 pounders he caught a couple of weeks ago and we also were invited to a get together at a river not too far from us.

I don’t claim to be a great decorator.  I just put together what I like and my eyes find pleasing.  I’ve been changing up my living room pillows for a while now and I think I’ve finally found a combination of colors I like.

Here’s a picture of my living room.  I just changed the furniture around.  I like it better now; much more cozy and less formal.  I would love to change out the end tables but my hubby likes them.   And someday I’ll rip the carpet out and make it a wood floor instead.

I plan to do a post that will go into a bit more detail about the room, but for today let’s just focus on the pillows.  My color scheme has evolved to shades of blue, turquoise, pink/burgundy, and beige.  Gold and grey are also used lightly.

Pillow - blue grey and turq bluw

Pillows grey stripe and blue flower

Pillow - loveseat

Pillow - pink flowered

Pillows - loveseat cream and bird

I put the pillows in a collage so you could better visually see how the pillows blend. It doesn’t matter what pattern the pillow is.  Just notice they pull color from each other.  A shade of blue or beige tend to be a color in every pillow.

Now that I have it figuredout that darn Fall might mess it up!  Do you decorate with multiple patterns or colored pillows? Have a great Tuesday!

Updated Living Room

It’s Thursday and it’s high time I shared my updated Living room.  It got a brand new paint job on the walls and ceiling, new lamp shades, new pillows and curtains, some table updates, and some different pictures.

Color Strip

The walls and ceiling both were painted with Behr’s Dream Catcher (top on the paint strip).  It looks grey, but it’s more of a very light blue.  Depending on the natural light and time of day, the color will change from almost white, to a light blue, to a pale lilac.  I’m really loving it.

I’ve had my living room furniture for awhile and it’s not going anywhere soon so it was important for me to use colors that complimented it. I pulled on black, light blues, gold’s and turquoise.

Curtain Close-Up Pillows and Throw

I ordered the curtain panels from jcpenney.com, Casio in Fog Blue in case you’re wondering.  I’m not sure what I was thinking, but I need to order 1 more for the living room and 1 more for the dining room. (I’ll share the dining room makeover next week).  I ordered a 120 length, fully lined, each panel $75.00, which I thought was totally reasonable.  The grey and blue striped pillow, 1 of 2, were a steal on the clearance rack at Bed, Bath and Beyond, $9.00 total.  The turquoise round is a pillow I had upstairs which I purchased from Target a while back.  The turquoise throw is also from Target.

Pillows - Pinecones Garage Sale Pillow

I found the turquoise and gold pillow at a garage sale for a $1.00 The other pillow is from Home Goods and if you want to read about my DIY pinecones click here or my DIY pumpkins, here.

Shopping – Home Goods = LOVE

Hi All!  Miss me yesterday?  My internet/phone/TV provider experienced a statewide power outage on Sunday.  It even took the back-up battery out.  Thankfully my neighbor has the same provider so when I got home yesterday she was able to tell me how to fix it.  Thanks to Audrey for calling and staying on hold for 1.5 hours.

As you already know, I live in the Seattle area and my son goes to school in Orlando.  Some of the restaurants and stores that I’m familiar with in Florida are finally making it here.  First came Five Guys burgers and Jimmie Jon with sandwiches.  A couple of months ago Home Goods came to the Northwest and located just 20 minutes away from me.  I can’t tell you how excite I was, although I have to admit I stayed away for the first month.  I knew it would be a crazy zoo and it was, according to some of my friends.  I first wrote about Home Goods here after a trip to Orlando.

Hubby and I stopped by a few weeks ago.  Do you ever see that one little item that just has to be yours?  That happened to me with this pillow.

I love birds and flowers and the colors green, pink and blue.  It’s the perfect pillow and I also love the shape, a different shape than the other pillows Here’s a closer look.

This is what I view from far away.  Is it just so silly to be in love with a pillow?

Now I’ve got my eye on this and it’s another love…

Have you shopped at Home Goods?  What have you brought home?  What did you want to buy and when you went back it was gone?
