How’s everyone? It’s hump day. That always puts a smile on my face. I stopped at a garage sale not too longs ago. I scored 5 pillows, a wood tray and a mall table meant for the outdoors. I needed a small table next to my chair in the living room and I decided this little gem would be perfect.
I picked the table up for $4.00 at a garage sale. That cost plus a can of Rustoleum Glossy Black and it’s looking great as a side table . The scrolls and petals are so finely molded and I’m really happy I went with a dark color.
To give the table top some stability I added a reversible tray liner I made previously and covered that with plexiglass cut to fit.
Have you been doing any spray painting lately?
** I’ve changed my blog name to Lattenene Chat. If you do an internet search you will still find posts from it’s previous name, Lattenenes Cup of Chat.
Hi my friends. It’s Monday night, I’m watching The Voice and thought I better get this post out. I should of had it out for today but with such a beautiful weekend, time got away from me. It’s like going grocery shopping when you’re hungry. I wanted to accomplish so much and didn’t,oh well, there’s always next weekend.
My neighbors asked me if I would paint their white bench that’s been sitting out in the weather for awhile. Bob tightened the screws on a couple of slats and gave it a quick sanding after Kathy washed it down. I used Rust Oleum Hammered spray, white on the wood slats and copper on the rod iron trim. We still need to add a coat of poly but since it’s on the porch it will be okay for now.
Here’s the before.
I think the metal inlay is so pretty in this copper color.
Have you had to freshen up any of your outside furniture?
I was delayed today coming home from work. It was raining cats and dogs and I had to work South today. My 35 minute commute home turned into 1.5 hours. The news said 3/4 inch of rain in the last 24 hours. I need something to make me happy and I found it. Yay, my favorite girls in blog land are having their final Spring link party today. Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick is hosting a spray paint party.
Spray paint is my favorite thing. I’m sharing a quick cute transformation. This is the story of an elephant and a giraffe who met at Marshalls and became fast friends. They were drawn to each other. Never mind they had different shapes and sizes. They bought it was awesome they were “dressed” the same.
Along came the frequent shopper of the clearance aisle. That would be me and I couldn’t pass this pair up for $1.99 each.
I finally brought them out from the craft closet yesterday and gave them a fresh coat of white spray paint. Perfect for the season, don’t you think?

The days have been sunny and beautiful in the Pacific Northwest, the evenings cool down quickly. The leaves are slowly falling from the trees, darkness comes sooner. Fall is definitely upon us.
As I look back over previous posts I can certainly see my Spring and Summer obsession with spray paint and Rust Oleum Apple Green color. Look below for a few of my favorites….see what I mean? And then, take a look at what my new found color obsession is!
Making A Birdbath
Sprucing Up The Lazy Susan
3Drawer Storage Box
Moving on, my new color obsession is TURQUOISE! Over the next couple of weeks I’ll share a couple of projects I’m working on. I’m excited!
Have a good day,
I wish I had a before picture. Sadly I don’t. You see, I was spray painting something else in the garage and my eyes wandered over to the box of items that didn’t sell at the all-city garage sale. That’s where I found the storage box for the redo of the 3 Drawer Storage Box. I also spotted a lazy susan. You know, one of those laminate ones. Before I knew it I had doused it with primer. So sorry, no before picture but just pretend you have seen a photo of a light blonde colored, laminate, faded lazy susan from approximately 15 years ago. Not a very pretty site.
I’m noticing a pattern with me and spray paint. I don’t thoroughly think my plan before I start so I sometimes tend to put on more spray paint and coats then needed. Oh well, I’m having fun! 🙂
Okay, so after the primer I added a couple of coats of Rust Oleum apple green.
Then I decided to checkerboard it with the help of blue tape and white spray paint.
Here’s how it turned out…
I think it’s so cute, much better than the laminate lazy susan I started with. There are so many different ways to use it. A few of my ideas below.
How about desk organizer for office supplies.
or a place to show off some of my favorite things.
A cute lazy susan like this could also be very useful in the kitchen.
I’ll let you know what I decide. I do know one thing for sure, I like this lazy susan much better now!

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.
Many years ago I was very attached to the fruit and vegetable themed kitchen. During that timeframe I bought a 3 drawer storage box adorned with ugly little fruit, cherries and radish, among other things, painted on it. Note: as of this picture I already had taken off the ugly little green knobs and wood filled the holes. I only have one thing to say, WHAT WAS I THINKING?!
I think it turned out pretty cute. Here’s what I did but let me just say, Thank You Rust Oleum.
I primed, then spray painted apple green. I bought new would knobs from Michaels.
I didn’t like the knobs black so I sprayed them with the white primer and the apple green.
Then I used blue tape to stripe the boxes and once I did that I decided to use the black paint again and I ended up with a speckled effect on the knobs. Not one of the 3 knobs is exactly alike and I kind of like that. I ended up doing the same kind of effect when I made the birdbath.
Here’s the before and after side by side…
