Valentine Tree + Wreath

Happy Monday!  What a beautiful weekend in the Northwest, 55 and sunny.  I abandoned my computer and house and had a nice relaxing weekend.

Today I’m sharing my Valentines Tree and another little wreath.  You may recognize this vase.  I’ve written several posts on it.  Later this week I’ll be writing a post on its evolution.

The recipe for this decoration is a vase and branches sprayed white + some cute hanging hearts and sparkly clothes pins from Michaels = a very sweet Valentines tree for the living room.

I also put a wreath up in the dining room to give a bit of color…..

I bought the wreath and just added the bow.  Have you done any decorating for Valentines Day?

Pinterest Inspired Valentine Wreath

On of my  2012 goals was to “Put Pinterest to Use by taking one idea a month from it and executing on it”.  I’m happy to say I made my goal for the first month.

During the holidays I pinned this cute wreath made with a wood frame on to my Pinterest Christmas board.

Here’s my take for Valentines Day.

I had an old gold frame that I sprayed with Rustoleum gloss white.  Add some Valentines ribbon and a few hearts from Joann’s and you’ve got yourself a lovely wall hanging.

Here’s one last side by side.

Valentine Candle Vignette

I’m a day late, well 3 if you count the weekend.  Last weekend I shared a post of my Valentine Mantel.  In that post I told you I would share a bit more about the candles and white wood stand on Friday.  Thursday and Friday tuned out to be wild and crazy days at work and time ran out.  But I’m sharing today…Yay!

I wanted to talk about this…

022-1

In particular, the white scrolled piece of wood and the candles sitting on it.

Apologies for the glare.  Let me get a little closer for you.

024-1

I’m in love with this little vignette.  So soft, so valentiney, so pink!  and so cheap!!  The vases came from the Dollar store, as did the pink and white rocks and the pink candles.  Here’s the story on the shelf.  In the picture below it’s hanging on the right wall.  Then, the most horrible thing happened.  It fell off the well, simply put, crashed and burned never to be a shelf again.

But I kept the pieces…

005

and once again, I used a piece of it for a candle holder and love, love, love it!

024-1

I also used one of the small shelf pieces to make a sign.  I was farting around so it’s not very good but I had fun.  You can’t tell by the picture but I sponged painted the board pink.

017-1

The moral of this story is everything has more than one use and don’t just automatically throw something out.  Think out of the box.

Valentine Mantel

Don’t ya just love an excuse to decorate your mantel.  Mine is it’s soon to be Valentines Day and Beth @ Home Stories A to Z is having a Valentine Mantel linky party.

My mantel doesn’t change to much.  Our  flatscreen and speakers take up most of the space on the mantle and above the fireplace so I try to keep it pretty simple.  Here it is…apologies for the bright light.

007-1

Here’s a closer look…

015-1   013-1

I took my winter mantel, and just a few updates.  I re-wrapped the candles with some bright pink scrapbook paper.  I left the greenery and white branches in the silver vases and added some heart shaped picks in pink and white that I picked up at the Dollar store.  I also added those white picks with little white balls, so cute and only a 1.99 each in a after Christmas sale at Ace Hardware.

 012-1 010

I also dressed up the glass table top that is to the right of the fireplace.

022

022-1

I had so much fun doing this frame.  My neighbor’s in the frame business and gave it too me.  I can’t find the original picture but it was gold.  I spray painted it white, added a piece of scrapbook paper for the backing.  The large heart came in a package of 4 at the Dollar store along with a package of pink heart stickers.

032-2

Did you notice the little box to the right of the picture frame?

023-1

It’s an old cigar box and I added a paint chip and some pink stickers.  Simple and cute, right?  The last item on the table is the candles vignette.

022-1

I hate to do this, but I’m going to save that story until Friday.  You won’t believe how I came up with the white candle holder.  To Be Continued…

Have you been decorating your mantel or other areas in your home for Valentines Day.  What cha doing?
