For The Love Of…Tape {Duct & Washi}

Welcome back to another post in the For The Love Of series.  Pinterest provides stats on the amount of times a project is pinned.  My dresser decorated with duct tape continues to be added to pinner boards.  This led me to think it would be fun to do a For The Love Of on tape, all kinds of tape; duct, washi, ribbon.

For The Love of Tape

I found a couple of faux herb pots at Michaels on sale a few months back.  I used ribbon tape to decorate the pots and they now sit on my built-in bookshelf in my family room.

To add a bit of trim to my coupon holder I added some black and white polka dot washi tape.

My most popular post ever is using duct tape to cover the drawers of a white laminate dresser.  It now totally rocks in black and white check duct tape.

Black and white polka dot washi tape also added some cuteness to some blah black picture frames to make polka dot frames.

I used pink and green chevron duct tape to cover a mobile phone box.  Love the colors and pattern.

Another take on  recycling old boxes.  This time I created a sea of maps for a work event using old maps and washi tape.

Last, but not least, cover cardboard box lids with with fun duct tape and they become decorative file trays file trays.

Do you use duct tape or washi tape for your creations?  Happy Friday to you and have a great weekend!

Sea of Maps

Last week 62 of my HR peers and I got together for our bi-annual two day meeting.  I was on the planning committee and we chose to do an international theme.  The content/speakers is the most important part of the meeting but it’s fun to dress the tables up a bit too.

We had a large quantity of small boxes available to us for free so I decorated 63 of them.  Using old maps from a 1967 atlas I had and some travel books as a starting point, I cut  out squares to fit the top of the boxes and adhered with spray adhesivet.  I also used some flags printed on full sheet label paper that my co-worker made.  I trimmed the sides of each box with  washi tape.  No two were alike.  Each was filled with different kinds of candy and each person received a box along with a name tag at their table.  Since folks came from outisde the U.S. the boxes were easy to travel with.

They were fun to make and the room was so colorful.  It made me happy that I could contribute.  Do you ever decorate boxes?

Polka Dot Frames

Hi there!  I usually post in the morning, but last night I took 2 drowsy Sudafed because I was so stuffed up.  And guess what?  I kind of slept in…made it to work on time but there wasn’t any room in the morning schedule for a coffee and blog time.

I’ve had some frames on my wall in the woman cave, once known as the craft/reading/guest room.  They contained some awesome sunflower pics a friend took.  I was doing another craft project using ribbon and duct tape (sharing this week, yes I will) and decided to add some to the plain black frames.

Here’s a picture of a plain frame and next to it is a comparison of the plain and polka dot. I just added the tape to the outside edges.

Can you see the difference?  Subtle but I like it lots!  Please excuse the glare.

I hung the two frames with the black with white polka dot trim on the wall above the printer station.

I got REALLY creative with the third frame.  I first added yellow tape, then overlaid it with the polka dot tape.  I hung it on the opposite side of the room.  It fits in perfect with the shelves with black and white ribbon.

Another 5-10 minute touch-up that definitely adds some color and punch to the woman cave!

Hope you have a wonderful Monday night.  It’s cuddle night for hubby and I ( and Divot) to watch The Voice!  Don’t you just love Blake?  Do you think Adam is feeling left out?  Blake and Usher seem like they’ve really bonded!

Organize – Coupon Holder

Hi people!  How was your weekend?  I spent most of it relaxing and staying pretty low key.  I was trying to make an oncoming cold go away.  I will say I as semi-successful, but still not feeling 100%.

I created a coupon holder a couple of weeks ago and wanted to share it with you.  So far, it’s working pretty good and doing a good job at keeping me organized.

DIY Latte Coupon Holder

I always feel good when I can create something out of items just laying around the house.  I think everyone this time of year gets is in the mode to clear out the clutter. I had this cloth book cover left over from a day timer or a journal. It has multiple pockets in it.

L- Opened Up

I labeled each section for different types of coupons; Home and Garden, Beauty and Fashion, Crafts, Food.  I also created a section for receipts and Coupon cards.

Then added a journal for notes, a pen and a highlighter.

I added decorator tape on the front and back and a ribbon to tie it together.

Latte Coupon Holder Final

I’ve been shopping a few times and this sure has come in handy.  Do you have one place you keep your coupons, all your coupons?
